In-office oral biopsies typically don’t require any preparation. Before any biopsy, Dr. Habib will review your health records and tell you any medicines to withhold. During an oral biopsy, Dr. Habib removes a small amount of the suspicious or abnormal tissue from your mouth or oropharynx and sends it to a pathologist, who will check for various pathologies, including cancer cells. Once a diagnosis is confirmed by oral pathology, information in the pathologist’s report will help determine treatment.
