Periodontal disease can become very serious and can affect your health and your life. Even though the health of teeth and gums is really important, most people don’t pay much attention to it.
We are an office that specializes in the treatment and maintenance of periodontal disease. If you are diagnosed with periodontal disease, the first thing your dentist will more than likely do is a thorough cleaning, where they will attempt to scale all of the tartar off your teeth and underneath your gums. However, in most cases this through cleaning does not reach the periodontal pocket depths completely which means the issue isn’t fully resolved and, in that case, you would be referred to our office.
We offer many services to combat periodontal disease, both surgical and non-surgical, to get you back on a path to a healthy mouth. Once the disease is under control, it is important to maintain the health your gums and teeth, so tartar and plaque don’t build back up.
A periodontal maintenance protocol will be put in place for us to be able to monitor your periodontal health for any sign of the disease to make sure that if it comes back, we catch it early, so it is easier to treat. Routine visits to your dentist, along with professional cleanings, are necessary to keep your mouth healthy.
Along with your periodontal maintenance protocol we need your help to continue combating periodontal disease with at home care. Daily brushing and flossing go a long way to keep tartar from building up. Rinsing with an antimicrobial mouthwash is also helpful.
