Sandy Scorse-DeTar

Hygienist

Our dental hygienist, Sandy, has been in the dental field all her life. Her father was an oral surgeon so naturally, she was interested in pursuing a career in the dental field. Sandy was born and raised in this area and lives locally with her husband, David, and their two dogs. They have five children and 12 grandchildren that she loves to spend as much time as possible. In fact, her favorite past time would be playing with her grandbabies. Outside of the office and playing with her grandchildren she loves education, shopping, and spending time on the farm with her husband.

Sandy already had a very impressive and extensive dental background before coming aboard our team as our skilled Dental Hygienist. She first became a Dental Hygienist, then Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at MSSU for 25 years, and she obtained her license as a Doctor of Dental Surgery; although, she does not practice general dentistry in our office. She works closely with us and our patients to help us provide optimal periodontal care. With her experience, knowledge, and skill she has a light and thorough touch which keeps her patients comfortable.

Abby Hare

Surgical Dental Assistant

Abby grew up in Cherryvale Kansas with her parents and her twin brother, Dirk. In 2015, she made the decision to attend the Dental Assisting Program at Labette Community College and began her career in the dental field after graduating from the program in 2016.

Abby and her boyfriend, Zeke, enjoy living the peaceful country life in Kansas, so they both make the drive back and forth from Joplin to Kansas during the workweek in order to keep that peaceful country living. When Abby is not in the office you can find her with her boyfriend, Zeke, and her dog, Duke, spending time with family & friends, and camping at the lake.

Abby came aboard Team Perio as a Surgical Dental Assistant in early 2019 with a few years of assisting in general dentistry under her belt. Abby strives to make patient experiences in the dental office as comfortable as possible. She enjoys being a part of a team that provides optimal patient care for our patients, and we love having her on our team.

Bonnie Gouge

Surgical Dental Assistant
Bonnie was born in California but was raised in Carl Junction where she played varsity softball for Carl Junction schools along with being on the cross-country track team. In 2019, Bonnie made the decision to attend the Dental Assisting Program at Labette Community College and instantly began her career in the dental field after graduating from the program in May 2020.
Bonnie continues to live in Carl Junction with her son, Brantley, along with their cats, Paisley and Sage. In her free time, Bonnie enjoys spending time with her son, watching him play and succeed at sports. She also enjoys Zumba, fishing, watching the Chiefs dominate football, and spending time with her family.

Team Perio met Bonnie during her clinical rotations through the Labette Community College Dental Assisting Program when Bonnie chose to complete several of the required clinical rotation hours in our office. We realized she was a great fit for our team and the rest is history.

Andrea Mouse

Surgical Dental Assistant
Andrea graduated from Morris High School in 2012, then later received her Registered Dental Assistant certificate in 2016 from Franklin Technology Center. Andrea has many years of experience in general dentistry before joining our office in 2021. She is a great asset to our team!

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her kids & husband. If Andrea is not in the office, you can find her at the ball fields staying active in their sport activities, traveling, and watching her daughters in ballet.

Lindsey Anderson

Administrative Assistant

Lindsey is interested in becoming a dental provider in the future and began doing clinical rotations in our office over the course of a year while she was attending MSSU to get the clinical hours needed to apply for Dental School. With Lindsey’s positive upbeat attitude and sweet personality, it only made sense to add her to our team when she showed interest after completing her clinical rotations with us.

Lindsey graduated from MSSU in May 2019 with a degree in Biology (pre-dental). She is currently in the process of applying to Dental school and hopes to attend in 2021. Along with working part-time in our office, she works full time taking care of people with developmental disabilities and provides them with her trained therapy dog, Maijor.

When outside of work, you can find Lindsey hanging out with her dog or spending time with her friends and family.

Elyse

Elyse was born and raised in Joplin, MO., but firmly believes she should’ve been born and raised in a remote cabin in the middle of the mountains surrounded by snow. She has two beautiful daughters who she loves dearly, but have simultaneously given her the ability to keep the boxed hair dye businesses going strong.

Horror movies are her absolute favorite, and she loves everything horror related. Almost as much as she loves coffee and pasta. In her spare time, you can find her not caring about sports and giving her Chihuahua, Snickers, and her Blue Heeler, Millie, plenty of belly rubs and trying to pawn her daughters off on their grandmother so she can take a nap.
